Support for Indigenous Communities

For many years our watchwords in this category have been “by, for, and of indigenous peoples”. For the past decade our principal commitment has been to the Keepers of the Earth Fund, the regranting program of First Peoples Worldwide. Their individually modest grants support indigenous communities strengthening self-governance and control over their assets; developing land stewardship via traditional knowledge, culture, and sustainable development; and for advocacy of Indigenous Peoples’ rights within local, national and international forums. Many of the funded projects may be seen to work against political, economic and cultural oppression.
